New/Used Purchase or Transfer

When registering a vehicle purchased from an Alabama Dealer you will need the following when coming to the 
Licensing Office in Probate:
The Alabama Title Application from the dealer ( a copy is fine )
The Bill of Sale ( must show any sales taxes paid to dealer )
Dealer Affidavit ( for used vehicles, this will be proof the day arrived in the dealers inventory )
Proof of Alabama Insurance ( NAIC number and policy number in-force on registration day ). 
Please have your proof of insurance when entering the License Department at Probate Court.
All Individuals on Title Application ( only one, if names are joined by "OR" )
Valid ID for each name on Title Application
Current tag receipt if transferring from one vehicle to the new one ( name must be same on old and new vehicle, 
must no longer own old vehicle )

When registering a vehicle purchased from an out of state Dealer you will need the following when coming to the 
Licensing Office in Probate:
Title or MSO
The Bill of Sale ( must show any sales taxes paid to Dealer )
All additional documents given by the Dealer
All Individuals on MSO or Title Application ( only one, if names are joined by "OR" )
Valid ID for each name on MSO or Title Application
Proof of Alabama Insurance ( NAIC number and policy number in-force on registration day ). 
Please have your proof of insurance when entering the License Department at Probate Court.
Current tag receipt if transferring from one vehicle to the new one ( name must be same on old and new vehicle, 
must have proof you no longer own old vehicle. 
Vehicle must be brought to License Office for inspection if not an Alabama Title. Vehicle Inspection 
form - State Form MVT 5-10

When registering a vehicle purchased from an Individual you will need the following when coming to the 
Licensing Office in Probate:
The Title ( singed on the back by all sellers and buyers )
The Bill of Sale ( must show actual purchase price, have both seller and buyers addresses )
Proof of Alabama Insurance ( NAIC number and policy number in-force on registration day ). 
Please have your proof of insurance when entering the License Department at Probate Court.
All Individuals on Title and Bill of Sale ( only one, if names are joined by "OR" )
Valid ID for each name on Title
Current tag receipt if transferring from one vehicle to the new one (name must be same on old and new vehicle, must have proof you no longer own old vehicle)
Vehicle must be brought to License Office for inspection if not an Alabama Title. Vehicle Inspection
